1. Data We Collect

• Account information: Name, email address, and profile image (provided via Clerk authentication)
• Chat messages: The messages you send and the AI-generated responses (stored if chat history is enabled)
• Companion data: Custom companion names, personalities, and learned memories
• Usage data: Message counts and rate-limit timestamps

2. How We Use Your Data

• To provide and maintain the Service
• To process your messages and generate AI responses
• To save your chat history and companion preferences
• To enforce usage limits and prevent abuse
• To moderate content for safety compliance

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate:

• OpenAI: Your messages are sent to OpenAI's API to generate responses. OpenAI's usage policies apply.
• Clerk: Authentication and user management. Clerk's privacy policy governs the handling of your login credentials.
• Neon (PostgreSQL): Database hosting for storing conversations and companion data.

4. Storage & Security

Your data is stored in encrypted PostgreSQL databases hosted by Neon. We use HTTPS for all data transmission. While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Export your data: Download all your conversations and companion data as JSON from Settings > Data.
• Delete your data: Permanently delete all conversations and companions from Settings > Data.
• Disable history: Turn off chat history saving so new conversations are not stored.
• Delete your account: Contact us or use Clerk account management to remove your account entirely.

6. Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. When you delete data through the Settings page, it is permanently removed from our databases. Guest messages are not stored server-side; only a message count cookie is used.

7. Cookies

We use minimal cookies: an HTTP-only cookie to track guest message count, and authentication cookies managed by Clerk. We do not use third-party tracking or advertising cookies.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
